Couple invite bride's cousin to wedding, she judges them for a venue with no cell service and putting honeymoon experiences on their gift registry: 'child free, of course'

Weddings are personal, and so are other people's opinions on them.

The grand irony of a day that is supposed to be a happy celebration is that it is rare that everybody who is involved in a wedding feels satisfied by it. The more people who are invited, the more there are to have an opinion that is not necessarily going to be shared by the bride, groom, or any of the bridal party.

While it may be true that it is the wishes of the couple that matter most, anyone who doesn't just elope has to cope with the fact that others are likely to come with their critiques in relation to their special day. Anything that seems weird or like too big a demand is going to be picked apart and talked about, whether they try to rectify it or not.

If we want to be mean, we could say that gossiping about a wedding and what we believe was and wasn't done right is one of the more fun parts. However, there comes a point where the judgment gets in the way of enjoying what there is to enjoy about such a celebration. This is one of the few topics where it doesn't always need to be that deep, and when it gets that way, it can stop people from having the good time that they may have otherwise had without the drama.

There is no denying that there was some inconvenience involved here, but is it all that bad to suffer through for only one day?

  • i have a 32yo cousin who's getting married to the guy she's been with for 10yrs, lived with for 7. both have well-paying jobs, no kids. their registry features stuff like this (see additional pics). the ceremony and reception will be at the same venue from 5pm-11pm. the venue has no cell service, no wifi, and no parking, and is in a location where per their website "ubers are hard to come by." it's about a 20min drive from the hotel where they have a block of room for guests. for transportation

  • vict @TwilightAtavism I do think it's insane that there is no parking at the venue-but I do think if someone accepts an invitation to your party for which you are paying hundreds of dollars per person, then you can ask for them to be there the entire time.

Listing Netflix itself is pretty tacky. The childfree, hostage held wedding is giving very dink-minded party planning.
